How to Join Indian Army Corps of EME
If you want to join Corps of Electronics and Mechanical Engineers in Indian Army then there are two ways.
The first is for Officers in EME & while the second is for JCOs and ORs. As for officers, they get a chance, at the end of the training, where they can choose the arms and services in Indian Army which they want to join. So, you can select EME as the first choice or preference and hence you can join Army Corps of EME.
You can enter Army Corps of EME through regular Army Technical entry schemes, like the below mentioned:
1. 10+2 TES (Technical Entry Scheme)– You can join EME through TES. This is a technical entry scheme into Army for 10+2 or 12th pass outs in PCM (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics). You need to have at least 70% marks in 10+2 PCM to apply for the TES exam which is conducted twice a year. If you are shortlisted then you will get a call for the 5 days interview from Services Selection Board (SSB).
2.UES (University Entry Scheme)– This entry is only for a BTech pass. Through a preliminary interview (at the college itself by the officers of the Army) you will be called for the SSB Interview for the final selection. The training for UES is held at IMA, Dehradun. Through UES you will be getting Permanent Commission in the Indian Army.
3.TGC (Technical Graduate Course)– This entry is for Btech graduates and you’ll get a call for the final SSB interview on the basis of your BTech aggregate percentage of the respective branch. TGC Training is held at IMA, Dehradun. Through TGC Entry you will be getting Permanent Commission in the Indian Army.
4.SSC Tech (Short Service Commission Technical)– The selection process is similar to TGC, but the training will be held at OTA, Chennai, Tamilnadu. As the name suggests, through SSC Tech you will be getting Short Service Commission (i.e. 10 years of compulsory service) that can be extended later up to 14 years.
